About Us

The Kernel Media exists to present responsibly sourced information about the nature of existence.

Responsibly sourced, verified information about our world is the backbone of humanity’s progress.

When the first humans looked out beyond the Simien Mountains in East Africa, they wondered about what lay beyond its vast reaches. Brave and curious volunteers took up the challenge of venturing beyond these enormous mountains and consequently discovered new lands, novel geography, unusual biology, and eventually, the peculiarity of the planet’s colossal oceans. Their reports conveyed back to the tribe would have sparked fiery curiosity, motivated new endeavours, and eventually inspired migrations.

This process of exploration, reporting, and information verification is how our world was built. “Informational processing” is the very developmental method of our Universe: matter moves, and the responses caused by those movements trigger reactionary activity.

The Kernel is a reflection of this Universal process, and is devoted to honouring this physical law.

While the Universe may be considered as an indifferent expanse of time, matter and space, humans have been endowed with the unique ability to subjectively interpret its formations. This subjectivity has led to innumerable challenges for our species, as we tribalistically strive to prove our beliefs to our fellow people; with disagreements leading to disputes, quarrels, murder, wars, and genocide.

Flying in the face of the primal instinct of tribalism, enlightened humanity began grappling with ideals such as:

  • tolerance for all peoples
  • their equal rights to pursue happiness
  • progress via reasonable and systematic evidence

Ever since René Descartes first espoused the idea that “we think therefore we are”, these Enlightenment Age ideals have been the foundation upon which modern society is built. From this cornerstone, humanity has witnessed wars exponentially decrease, health exponentially increase, and society make progress at unprecedented levels.

This progress, like all evolution, has not been without its comprehensive challenges. One would be forgiven for believing that humanity has regressed in recent years. Yet, despite modern media (built on corporate capitalistic principles) overwhelming us with negativity, raw data shows astonishing global improvement. The Kernel Media is inspired by this data, and seeks to build upon it.

Humanity is experiencing a monumental shift in its historical narrative. The next stages of our existence are upon us. With freely accessible electricity, decentralised, instantly available information, and affordable freedom of movement already available to the majority of the world’s population; humanity is now building decentralised economies, sustainable societies, interconnected virtual realities, outer space communities, artificial intelligence, and intergalactic exploration technology. These developments will launch us into an existential reality only imagined by the most creative minds of our past, and propel humanity into an entirely new era beyond the Information Age.

The Kernel Media was formed to responsibly report on this shift, and in so doing contribute toward it.

As founders, we see a shortage of responsible reporting in a globally connected world, and exist to address the deficit. This reporting should emphasise the global citizen, and the enlightenment ideals that fostered them.

Subjective Interpretation?

All information presented by biological creatures will be done so with some form of artistic licence. That is the joy of journalism: To present exciting truths in an aesthetically delightful way while attempting to remain objective.

Each reporter naturally holds their own perspectives of how they see the world, as do we (after all, we have founded this media house based on a certain perspective), and we will respect those perspectives and opinions with a tolerance underpinned by Enlightenment ideals. Our founding team holds fast to the principles of scientific review, and all content will be subject to such scrutiny to ensure accurate and impartial coverage.

It is our goal at The Kernel Media to produce content that will inform society about humanity’s current trajectory in a way that is professional and elegant; and we work to inspire our audience to play their part in ensuring this trajectory is a positive one for all.

Seeds of Enlightenment

It is imperative we hold the flame of enlightenment alive in these remarkable times. In his 1995 book “The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle In The Dark”, the great scientist Carl Sagan said:

“I have a foreboding of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time – when The United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what’s true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness.”

This statement could be seen as  a frighteningly accurate representation of the world we live in today. At The Kernel, however,  we understand that – no matter how deep into the abyss of ignorance humanity sinks – the seeds of critical thinking always find their way to the surface and blossom into trees of refuge. We endeavour to hold those seeds and fan the flames of enlightenment and progress.

Sagan quipped a decade earlier that humanity’s passion for learning is our tool for survival. The Kernel Media seeks to satisfy such a passion.

Our species’ inherent desire to continuously learn more, and doing so responsibly, will indeed be the key to our prosperity. The Kernel is just one of the many instruments in that quest for knowledge.
